Wine and dining in Cyprus: plan the pairing and the visit

A wine-focused meal can mean choosing a bottle with dinner, ordering a paired menu or visiting a winery before lunch. These are different experiences. Decide which one you want before comparing prices or making a reservation.

A restaurant wine list

Start with the food and the table’s preferences. Tell the restaurant your budget and whether you want one bottle for everyone or different wines by the glass. Ask for the current list: a label pictured on a website may not be available on the day.

Our fine dining collection and special-occasion guide are useful starting points for an evening meal. Check the wine service with each venue rather than assuming every restaurant offers a sommelier or formal pairings.

A paired menu

If you are considering a tasting menu, ask whether the pairing is optional and how it is priced. Clarify the number of pours, whether alternatives are available and whether everyone at the table must follow the same format. The food price and wine price may be separate.

For a broader checklist, read how to choose a fine dining restaurant. Planning around the complete cost is more useful than comparing only the headline menu price.

A winery and restaurant outing

Ierambelos in Farmakas is located within Santa Irene Winery, making it a relevant place to investigate for a countryside visit. Ask the venue to confirm a tasting appointment and restaurant service separately.

The winery’s official information introduces the estate. Our Farmakas guide covers dining, accommodation and itinerary questions.

Make room for everyone at the table

Check non-alcoholic choices for anyone who does not drink, and do not assume a wine pairing is required to enjoy the meal. For a group, establish whether the bill will be split equally or by what each person orders before choosing bottles.

Plan the return journey

Arrange a designated driver or transport if your plans include alcohol. A mountain visit needs particular attention to the route and the timing of your return. If you prefer to stay overnight, confirm the accommodation and its location independently of the meal.

Use Browse Restaurants to compare locations, or the Cyprus food guide by area to fit the meal into a wider itinerary.
